About protect the dream

Protect the Dream is a character and leadership development program for student athletes designed to raise up positive role models in our hallways, classrooms, and communities. Teens are taught how to design a big dream worth protecting, how to manifest it, and how to protect it from the Seven Dream Killers. We help raise up Dream Protectors in our participating schools to assist administration in their fight against cyber bullying, drug and alcohol abuse, self-harm, and other threats students and teachers are facing in Gen Z and Alpha culture.
How we help
Safety is a major issue in our schools. There is talk of adding safety devices like metal detectors or adding more resource officers. But these may not detect potential school violence. The students often know of those that desire to hurt themselves or others before authorities become aware. Protect the Dream program challenges students to be aware of those that may be "loners" or students that are experiencing challenges from family, student bullying, etc. We work directly with students to befriend the loner, to be a listening ear to the emotionally disturbed, and to call-out the bullies in the school. This program PROACTIVELY stems violence, before it takes lives and hurts other students.

OUR TEAM
Put Kit, Joanie, and Tony in a room, and you've got the ultimate "Dream Team" for personal transformation- whether you need peace, confidence, or just a solid life intervention. Kit turns rivals into role models, Joanie teaches you to choke out self-doubt (literally), and Tony helps you work through your issues before they land you in one of Kit's prison programs. Together, they prove that with the right mindset- and maybe a well-timed armbar- you can rise up, build, and protect your dream.

Tony Sotres is basically a life coach, but with more humor and fewer cliches. As a prevention specialist and as a mentor for Power of Peace Project he helps people trade bad decisions to better ones-without sounding like a self-help book. whether it's anger management, grief consultations, or just figuring out life, Tony's got your back-literally (he's also a brown belt in jiu jitsu)

Joanie Chamberland has spent 16 years mastering the art of tying people in knots- and 13 years teaching them how to escape. A 2nd degree black belt and veteran competitor, she helps students trade self-doubt for armbars and excuses for takedowns. As the owner of Rise Up BJJ and mentor for the Power of Peace Project, she's on a mission to make the world more confident place, one roll at a time
